Daily routine: pre-open / after / weekend

Three blocks. Same Sessions list. No new strategy on a weekday.

Why this matters

Extra minutes of Play do not stop random practice. Practice adds up when the week has a shape. BarionQuant already has the objects: Sessions, End Training, optional review, Journal…, and this handbook. The routine maps those objects onto a clock. It does not add a broker morning call.

Times below are examples for a US or EU desk that cares about London/New York. Shift them. Do not skip the close.

Steps / Checklist

Pre-open (10–15 minutes)

  1. Open Desktop. Do not download a new symbol unless yesterday’s series is broken.
  2. Open Sessions. Reopen the last unfinished run, or New Training on the same series you used this week.
  3. Read yesterday’s one-sentence note (chart marker or review text). If you cannot find it, write “no note” — that is already a finding.
  4. Pick one rule for the sitting. Period stays where you left it.
  5. Play or Step only after the rule is written. Stop when the timer ends, not when the tape gets interesting.

After the session (5–10 minutes)

  1. File → End Training. Fill the optional end-of-session review if the dialog appears. One sentence is enough: kept / broke / skipped.
  2. If you use Tools → Journal…, confirm the archive line exists. Do not rewrite history to improve the score.
  3. Close tester and extra chart windows. Leave Beginner workspace if you saved one.

Weekend (30–45 minutes)

  1. Reopen one session where you broke the rule. Do not open three. Replay with Step. Write the excuse in the words you actually used (“I was late,” “spread,” “just this once”).
  2. Optional: sign in on the website and open Account → Library. That list is handbook progress, not Desktop sessions. Use it to pick Monday’s Learn article, not to hunt P&L.

If you only have energy for one block, keep after. A week of closed sessions beats a heroic weekend.

Common mistakes

  • Adding a new indicator every pre-open. That is a new experiment, not a routine.
  • Using weekend time to import five years of a new pair. Stay on the series you already replay.
  • Checking Pricing mid-session because the wall annoyed you. Read handbook before or after, not during Play.
  • Treating Journal as a performance report for a prop firm. It is a local archive.
  • Skipping End Training so you can “keep the mood.” You will not have a weekend object.
